I've been on dA 4 years as of today. It's been fun, what can I say.

So, news of the day (you can see it for yourself on Wikipedia's main page):
People all over Russia are protesting against the numerous recorded falsifications in the legislative election which brought about the absolute majority of State Duma seats for United Russia, i.e. the ruling party.
I attended a rally today, numbering 50-80k people. I can testify to the fact that the protesters were civil and so was the police. There hasn't been a single arrest made (to compare, over this week about a thousand took place in Moscow alone). Additionally, the federal news broadcasted the event, FINALLY (we already had 2 rallies this week, and there wasn't a mention of them anywhere on the state channels). Maybe we're seeing the birth of a democratic society. Maybe not. You should know about this, at any rate.
